I Take Back Everything I Said...

Job 40:6-146Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind: 7“Brace yourself like a man, because I have some questions for you, and you must answer them. 8“Will you discredit my justice and condemn me just to prove you are right? 9Are you as strong as God? Can you thunder with a voice like his? 10All right, put on your glory and splendor, your honor and majesty. 11Give vent to your anger. Let it overflow against the proud. 12Humiliate the proud with a glance; walk on the wicked where they stand. 13Bury them in the dust. Imprison them in the world of the dead. 14Then even I would praise you, for your own strength would save you.”…… Then, Job 42:1-6 (NLT) 1Then Job replied to the Lord: 2“I know that you can do anything, and no one can stop you. 3You asked, ‘Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorance?’ It is I—and I was talking about things I knew nothing about, things far too wonderful for me. 4You said, ‘Listen and I will speak! I have some questions for you, and you must answer them.’ 5I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes.

6I take back everything I said, and I sit in dust and ashes to show my repentance.”

God is sovereign. Do we really get that? I am not so certain. As individuals and as churches we constantly devise new and creative ways to try and manipulate God. How about the idea that God, “showed up and showed off?” What? Could we say anything more degrading to our Lord and savior? Or when we sing, “Holy Spirit You are welcome here.” Seriously? Do YOU have the power to keep Him out? Are you implying that there are times that He is NOT welcome? We make rules that believers must follow and hoops through which members must jump and ways that “real” followers should pray-not to mention amounts that the truly devoted should give… Is there ever a time that we as believers and as a church say, “I take back everything I said, and I sit in dust and ashes to show my repentance?” Is there never a time when we stop listening to Satan and truly invest ourselves in the Word of GOD which tells us to, “Abide with me and I will abide with you?” Can we EVER just STOP getting in the way of The Way? Why is Jesus never enough? Why must it always be, “Jesus + whatever I think makes Jesus better?”

God is omnipotent and all-powerful. We shouldn't really doubt his strength and radiance. All we have to do is put our faith in his teachings. God has a plan for each and every one of us. As long as we do our best in practicing good deed, he will continue to guide us.
